With regard to divZero's well conceived but ultimately fruitless essay (http://dbzer0.com/blog/on-using-questionable-tactics-in-struggle?repost):
Unfortunately, this is wrong. At best, this ideal is simply pacifist. At worst, it is appeasement most vulgar. A commenter mentioned Ghandi and I'm glad he did. Eliminating the effectiveness of non-violent protest has been a work in progress ever since Ghandi (nominally) freed India from British rule. The clumsy, heavy handed tactics used against Ghandi, King, Mandela et.al. have since been refined. Most recently at the G20 summits, we can see how the new tactics work. New laws are created and civil rights laws ignored to suppress dissent. "Free speech" zones at US political conventions have led to quietly announced but abusively enforced 5 meter fence zones at the G20. In the language of oppression tactics, this is called escalation. It is the tactic that Hitler used step by step to march the Jews into the gas chambers.
Of utmost importance to our fascist leaders is the golden rule of oppression, divide and conquer. They control the media, with few exceptions. They write the "history" books. They decide the "free speech" zones. They write the laws, and change them at their convenience. They command the pigs, who are cowards, to assemble overwhelming force and weaponry to smash protests. Abusing innocents is just part of the propaganda paradigm of fear.
Fascism will never die by words or reason. When we see neo-Nazis in America, we can dismiss them as seemingly impotent today. Not so with our globalist rulers -- they use any tactic, regardless of ideals or even laws about human rights, etc. They control the thousands of talking heads who influence the people, and can easily brush aside their own rules, like the Geneva Convention or the Glass-Steagall Act, when it suits their purposes.
The only rule they follow, as Hitler followed, is that the ends justify the means. Knowing that there will always be a rather large contingent for non-violence, they carefully prop up the non-violent ideals of Dr. King, while completely dismissing his "War on Poverty" to the dustbin of history. Meanwhile, they also cultivate authoritarianism and racism in as many ways as possible. Why is the KKK still tolerated in America? Because there are lots of "good (white) Christians" in America who can be easily swayed towards racism. The cognitive dissonance required of almost all religions today assures it. Just look at the TeaBaggers Partiers.
Rather than dismiss the tactics of the Black Bloc, we need to gauge the effectiveness of tactics. If we look around the world today, we can see two effective means of dissent. The first is media attention. This tactic was most successfully used on 9/11, supposedly by Al-Quaeda. If we believe that Bin Laden meant what he said about destroying the American economy, then this was the most effective subversive tactic ever seen. If, however, you belong to the 9/11 truth movement, you will also note that it was the most effective tactic for the rapid and widespread installation of fascism the world has ever seen.
The second effective tactic is insurgency. This is perhaps the only option available to us. While from an idealist perspective, I applaud devZero's essay as well-reasoned, from the realist perspective I must choose insurgency as more practical. As capitalism continues to crumble, something most assuredly will take its place. For the first time in history, and the globalists are correct on this point, virtually all of mankind is following the same playbook -- capitalistic, economic progress. AKA "growing economies" at any cost, human or environmental. A paradigm shift is coming, whether we like it or not.
Unfortunately, virtually every indicator from governance tells us that the coming shift is to fascism. Economically, we are already there. Banks, corporations and their wealthy paymasters own the world already. They own the governments, the means of production, and the means to live life for all the masses. People who like to work, often deeply and subconsciously, will support their paymasters, //thier livelihoods//.
When that fails, they will turn to religion and government for their salvation. On religion, I will only say that of the major religions on earth, only Bhudism says that it is not alright to kill your theocratic foe. On governments, for the American express train to facsism I direct you to Glenn Greenwald (http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/index.html). For the rest of you, I invite you to submit your links to evidence of fascism in your country.
Inappropriate links will be moved or deleted without notice. An example of this would be a Tea Party site dedicated to exposing Obama's fascism. They are right, of course Obama is a fascist. He owes his entire political career to the fascist puppetmasters who cultivated him. But they are very wrong about why they are against him (color? party?). And they are too easily misdirected by their puppetmasters as well (birthers, mosqueraders, net neutrality, anyone?). Hence, these types of links are inappropriate here. I would invite Tea Partiers to submit under the Libertarian subforum though.
If I am destined to die at the hands of the global elite, I choose to die fighting.

...To all this I expect some to say that the Fascists do this or that all the time. Doesn’t that then justify us fighting back with a similar intensity? Can’t we fight fire with fire if we’re justified? The answer again is to realize that we do not have the same ends as the fascists and thus utilizing the same means makes no sense and most likely be counter-productive.
